Tammy Demaree Is Teacher of the Month at South High

Tammy Demaree has been a speech-languange pathologist for 16 years.  She worked 4 years in Albuquerque, New Mexico; 2 years at the Leavenworth County Special Education Cooperative; 2 years at Shawnee Mission public schools; and 8 years here in Salina.  This is her 2nd year at Salina South.  Mrs. Demaree was inspired by her mom who was a special education teacher and not afraid to do things that were hard.  Her favorite part of speech therapy is watching students have a “light bulb moment” when they discover that they have achieved a goal.  Her message to parents and the community:  “Don’t be afraid to do things that are hard for you, because failure is practice for success.”

Great Job Tammy!
