Welcome to the Oakdale Library!
Library Media Specialist: Mrs. Kay Barriger
This will be my 27th year as an educator and my 8th year as a library media specialist at Oakdale. I enjoy sharing my knowledge of books and research skills with the students as well as educating them about technology in our society.
My husband and I have 2 grown boys with families of their own. We love spending time with our four grandchildren and our dog, Boomer. In our spare time, we enjoy hiking, camping, and working on our home. Of course, I also do a lot of READING!
This year, I received a Salina Education Foundation grant to implement Makerspaces in the library. This is to encourage students to create, explore, and build with various materials. The students will read books and participate in activities where they learn about the principles of engineering, robotics, and computer programming. So if your child comes home talking about playing with Legos in the library, you'll know Makerspaces are being utilized.
I look forward to helping your children learn about authors, books, and technology. If you have questions about the library policies or procedures, feel free to contact me.
